Have you ever experienced problems with your VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) whilst playing Hell Let Loose?
When this occurs, we appreciate that it can be pretty frustrating so we have put together a list of solutions to help you troubleshoot these issues and hopefully help you find a fix!

Solution 1: Update your audio drivers
Open your Windows Device Manager by opening the Windows Task Bar
Type Device Manager in the search field and press Enter
Expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers drop-down menu
Right-click all devices and select Update driver
Additionally, deleting the following folder: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\HLL and allowing the program to regenerate the files might bring back VoIP.
Note: after this, you do have to redo your Settings and Keybinds.
Solution 2: The microphone is not being detected
If the game doesn't detect your microphone please make sure that your microphone is set as the default communication device in your Windows settings.
Select the Start button
Type Sound in the search box
Then select Sound from the list of results
Choose the Sound Control Panel from the Related Settings on the right
On the Recording tab, select your microphone, then Set Default from the right-click menu
Solution 3: Disable IPv6
If your router is using IPv6, we would recommend disabling that option. To do this please go to your router settings and find the IPv6 option - it can usually be found in advanced settings - then disable it.
To do this on Windows 10:
Open Settings
Click on Network & internet
Click on "Change adapter options"
Right-click on the network connection you are using and select Properties
In the list, find Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and uncheck the box next to it - if this box was already unchecked, please manually recheck it > OK > then manually uncheck it again.
Click OK to apply the changes
To do this on Windows 11:
Open Settings
Click on Network & internet
Click the Advanced Network Settings option
Under the Related settings section, click the "More network adapter options" setting
Right-click the network adapter and choose the Properties option
Uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) option - if this box was already unchecked, please manually recheck it > OK > then manually uncheck it again.
Click the OK button
Once you complete the steps, the IPv6 protocol will no longer be available on the system. Although it's not a requirement, restarting the computer to ensure the changes apply correctly is a good idea.
If your IPv6 was already disabled, can you please try the opposite and enable it? To do this, please follow the steps above for your specific Windows OS but check the box next to "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" instead this time.
Solution 4: Disable the recording tab
Select the Start button
Type Sound in the search box
Then select Sound from the list of results
Choose the Sound Control Panel from the Related Settings on the right
Click into the Recording tab
Disable Stereo Mix by right-clicking it and selecting Disable
Click Apply or OK and reboot your PC
Solution 5: Game is loading screen audio but no in-game audio
Right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom-right of your screen
Click Open Sound settings
Under the Advanced tab, select a 192000 or lower rate
Press OK and retest the game
OR
Select the Start button
Type Sound in the search box
Then select Sound from the list of results
Scroll down to Advanced Sound Options and select App volume and device preferences
Click Reset
Close the window and retest the game
Solution 6: Audio Inputs + Outputs
Open Device Manager
Open Audio inputs and outputs and right-click on the Microphone
Click Update Driver
Click Browse my computer for drivers
Click Let me pick from a list
Click Generic software and confirm the change
The microphone now should appear in 'Software devices' instead of 'Audio inputs and outputs'.
Solution 7: Disable all Audio Inputs + Outputs (for headset only)
Open Device Manager
Open Audio inputs and outputs
Disable all Audio inputs and outputs - i.e. monitors, speakers, controllers etc - OTHER than the dedicated headset you are using for VoIP
Retest the game
Solution 8: Make sure that your apps have access to your Mic
1. Press the Windows start button and type "Privacy Settings"
2. On the left, click on "Microphone"
3. Turn the "Allow apps to access your microphone" slider On
4. Retest
Simple Solutions:
Leave the server you are having issues with and go back into another one - some players have reported that this has helped them with their VoIP issues
Some players also reported that simply restarting their router fixed a similar issue, so we would highly recommend trying this - unplug the power supply, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in again
Make sure that Windows time is set correctly - it will sync correctly once it is set to the right time
Deactivate ASUS Sonic Studio and ASUS Armory Crate if you have them installed
Attempting to play using a VPN has also been reported as a fix for these issues
If you can't use your microphone and also can't hear other players, you may simply need to rebind your push-to-talk keys.
